Cystoscopy
Cystoscopy involves examining the bladder and urethra using a cystoscope, which is inserted through the urethra. A cystoscope is a slender, tube-like instrument equipped with a light and a lens for visualizing the internal structures. It may also have a tool to remove tissue samples for microscopic examination to detect signs of disease.
The procedure involves filling the bladder with fluid, allowing the doctor to get a clear view of the bladder walls. During the procedure, the patient lies on an examination table with knees bent and legs apart, covered by a drape. The doctor examines the bladder’s inner wall using the cystoscope and monitors the images on a computer screen to identify any abnormal areas.
