What is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is a cosmetic treatment method used to get rid of unwanted hair. In epilation, high-energy laser beams aim to destroy hair follicles by targeting melanin pigments in the hair roots. Laser beams penetrate the skin and are attracted to melanin pigments, increasing the heat of cells in the hair follicles and damaging them. Thus, hair follicles are destroyed, and hair growth is prevented.

Laser hair removal can be applied to any part of the body and provides more permanent results compared to other hair removal methods. The application time may vary depending on the person’s skin tone, hair structure, and the size of the area to be treated. Additionally, one of the most significant advantages of laser hair removal is that it is less painful than other hair removal methods and has a shorter recovery period after application.

What Are the Types of Laser Hair Removal?

The types of laser hair removal can vary depending on the laser technology used and the goals of the treatment. The most commonly used types of laser hair removal are as follows:

Alexandrite Laser Hair Removal: The Alexandrite laser penetrates melanin pigments in the hair follicles most effectively and is especially effective in fair-skinned individuals. This laser provides faster and less painful application.

Diode Laser Hair Removal: The diode laser provides fast and safe application and can be applied to large treatment areas. It is more effective in fair-skinned individuals.

Ruby Laser: The Ruby laser delivers less energy to the hair follicles but reduces damage to the skin. Therefore, it is used especially in small areas and light hairs.

Needle Epilation: The needle laser operation is referred to as “IPLC,” which stands for “Intense Pulsed Light and Nd:YAG Laser Combined.” This method is similar to traditional needle epilation but provides a more effective and less painful application.

The IPLC method destroys hair follicles using laser beams instead of electrode needles used in traditional needle epilation. While Nd:YAG laser beams penetrate deep hair follicles under the skin, IPL beams focus on superficial hair follicles. Thus, by combining the advantages of both technologies, a more permanent and effective result is achieved. Needle laser operation provides a more effective application, especially in dark-skinned and thick-haired individuals. However, this method requires a longer application time compared to other laser hair removal methods and can treat fewer hair follicles simultaneously. Since hair follicles are treated one by one, it is used more in small areas. It can be preferred especially in sensitive areas such as facial laser hair removal, neck, and bikini area.

Ice Laser: Also known as “SHR” or “Super Hair Removal.” SHR technology is a relatively newer technology compared to traditional laser hair removal and provides a less painful application than other laser hair removal methods. SHR technology provides effective application both during the growth and resting phases of hair. Additionally, SHR technology reduces the risk of skin damage by sending laser beams to the skin in small doses and rapid intervals. Ice laser hair removal reduces pain on the skin during application by supporting it with cooling technology. Therefore, SHR technology is a less painful application method compared to other laser hair removal methods.

Robotx Laser Hair Removal:

In this method, laser beams are directed to the hair follicles using a specially designed robotic arm. One of its most significant advantages is providing faster and more precise application. The robotic arm can adjust the laser beams very precisely, treating each hair follicle individually. Thus, laser beams are directed directly to the hair follicles, providing effective epilation without damaging surrounding tissues. Robotx laser hair removal also provides a less painful application compared to other laser hair removal methods. Through special cooling technologies, the surface of the skin is cooled, reducing pain and discomfort during application. Robotx laser hair removal provides an effective application, especially in dark-skinned individuals and areas with thick hair. With this method, more permanent results can be achieved in a short time. However, due to the complex structure of the robotic arm, it is a more expensive application method compared to other laser hair removal methods.

Men can also benefit from laser hair removal just like women. Male laser hair removal is commonly applied to areas such as the back, chest, shoulders, neck, and nape in men. Additionally, the problem of facial hair growth can also be treated with laser hair removal.

Due to the thick and coarse nature of hair in men, laser hair removal treatment may take longer and require a more intensive session schedule than in women. Additionally, since men’s hair is generally thicker and denser, the effect of laser hair removal may be less than in women. However, in the long term, with regular application, the number of hairs will decrease and become finer.

Using laser heads specially designed for men and larger sizes, larger areas can be treated more quickly. One of the most significant advantages of laser hair removal is providing a permanent solution. As a result of sessions regularly performed, the number and density of hairs will decrease and eventually disappear.

How Many Sessions Does Laser Hair Removal Take?

The completion time of laser hair removal can vary depending on the person’s hair structure, skin color, and the size of the area to be treated. Additionally, factors such as the number and duration of sessions, the laser technology used, and the experience of the specialist also affect.

Generally, laser hair removal treatment is completed between 6-12 sessions. The time between each session can be 4-8 weeks. The number and duration of sessions may vary depending on factors such as the person’s hair structure and skin color. The number of sessions may be higher in areas with thick hair. However, these durations are not definitive and may vary from person to person.

How Long Does Laser Hair Removal Last?

The effect of laser hair removal may vary from person to person. However, generally, long-term results are obtained after laser hair removal treatment. After the application, 80-90% of the hairs may disappear, and the remaining hairs may be finer and less.
