Prostate Screening

As many diseases, such as prostate cancer, initially cause no or very few symptoms, no importance is attached to possible warning signs, such as pain occurring from time to time. However, the disease could already be recognised here. Only going for an examination when you already have clearly noticeable symptoms is certainly not the right approach.

Regular screening is therefore highly recommended for men.

At what age is a screening recommended?

An annual urological check-up is recommended for every man over the age of 45. If a father or brother has already been diagnosed with prostate cancer, a genetic predisposition can be assumed, and a preventive examination is recommended at the age of 40.

Are younger men also eligible for urological screening?

Yes, they do. For the early detection of diseases that can also affect young men, e.g., the testicles, bladder, or urethra, young men should also have a regular urological examination.

This also includes an ultrasund examination, which can prevent future infertility and detect diseases such as testicular cancer at an early stage.

The purpose of a urological check-up: I have no complaints!

That’s a good thing! To keep it that way for a long time, it makes sense to detect diseases and problems when they are not yet causing any symptoms. This makes treatment much easier and increases the success of therapy enormously. Incidentally, women are well ahead of men when it comes to the discipline of preventive check-ups. But it is just as important for men.
