Prostatitis
The prostate is a male sexual organ located below the bladder. Prostate enlargement often occurs in men over the age of 50. Prostatitis is often confused with cystitis.
What are the symptoms of prostatitis?
The main symptoms are often pain when urinating, a frequent urge to urinate, and discomfort in the groyne, back, pelvic, and perineal reas. In particularly severe cases, this pain can also be accompanied by a high temperature. Other symptoms may include a burning sensation when urinating, urinary incontinence, frequent bowel movements, and cramp-like pain in the lower abdomen.
What causes prostattitis?
Prostatitis can be caused by a bacterial infection. In this type of infection, bacteria have entered the prostate from the blood or via the urethra. Another possible cause of inflammation of the prostate could be a narrowing of the urethra, an enlarged prostate, or psychological stress.
